Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera | Pros and Cons

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera | Pros and Cons

Best Digital Camera For Kids - The Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera is  a 'real' camera, albeit not the highest-end one out there. The viewfinder rotates to take self portraits, my son who is always trying to make videos of himself and videos with his friends can now do so without his mother having a heart attack when he uses my camera. The buttons on the camera are very large, straight to the point, and easy to use! The special effect features are really fun as your child can add graphic stickers, frames, and more. The photos themselves are also not the greatest quality in low light, but again, it's not for professional photographers.  Like another poster said, if you plan on using the video option, invest in an SD card as it does suck up the memory. Overall th Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera  is a fantastic product.

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera Key Features

  • Create fun pictures of yourself and your friends with the Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera from Fisher-Price. Featuring a 180-degree swiveling lens and special effects, you can easily take self-portraits and then swivel the camera to take photos of the people or things in front of you. Load the pictures into the downloadable software to share them with family and friends!
  • Creating a self-portrait is a whole lot easier when you can see yourself! With its 180-degree swiveling lens, low-light performance, and 4x digital zoom, the See Yourself Camera takes the mystery out of picture taking. The swivel holds three different positions: forward, up, and backward. Slide in an SD card to give yourself additional storage for pictures and videos of yourself, your friends, and your family. This camera has large, child-friendly controls, is designed to be durable, and can survive being dropped time after time.
  • This camera features fun backgrounds and frames to add a zany, personal touch to your pictures. You can choose from a variety of in-camera special effects options, including mummy faces or green mouths with fangs, or you can load your pictures into the downloadable software and choose from colorful borders.
  • When you use a USB cable (not included) to connect the See Yourself Camera to a computer, you can download pictures to view and edit using software from Fisher-Price (download online). There, you can choose special effects, organize your photos, and make them into cards and books to share with your friends and family.
  • The downloaded software is designed to work with PC computers. Our Mac-using testers were disappointed they couldn't edit pictures on their computers, but they could still view and save their pictures.

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera Pros and Cons

PROS

  •  Easy to use and the kids love this camera. They can swivel the lens to take pictures of themselves or of others. The "Smiley" button lets them add hats/hair stamps, distort facial features, or add things like beards or an elephant trunk to the subject's face. No end of fun there for the kids.
  •  The camera is durable, no worries about them dropping this camera - it will last.
  •  The camera has an automatic shut-off feature if the kids don't use it and it kicks in pretty fast for battery conservation.
  • The camera features are so enticingly fun to see and use that older kids and even adults will want to take a "try" which makes the camera more of a family experience.

CONS

  • If you insert an SD card with existing pictures on it - those pictures are automatically erased. So you always want to insert a new or emptied card.
  • The USB cable should be included so you don't have to hunt for one - the batteries are included so it is ready to go but not the cable for downloading and kids want to download right away.

The Fisher Price Kid-Tough See Yourself Camera has a few cons and pros, If you are okay with all down side on The Fisher Price Kid-Tough See Yourself  is Great gift for kids that love to take pictures and make little movies.

Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls

Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls

Best Digital Camera for Kid - We bought this camera for my daughter's birthday because she was dying to have a digital camera like everyone else in the family. The Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls is perfect for her little hands and the 2 eyeviews make it very easy for her. The LCD is grainy and doesn't reflect the image actually captured. The pictures also download very easily onto the computer. She took it to school with her the next day and let the children on the playground take turns using it. I do however think the price is kind of high for the product you are getting. The pictures don't come out that great, good enough for a 3 year old but not good enough to put in frames and hang on the walls. This camera is extremely tough, very easy to use, and battery friendly. I would recommend this for all kids not responsible enough with a real digital camera, and old enough to not fire the flash at close proximity to eyes.

Preschoolers can learn the art of photography with this digital camera designed especially for them. With a 1.3" color LCD preview screen, easy navigation menu and wrist strap, it's meant to stand up to typical rough preschooler use. Kids can instantly see the picture they've taken on the LCD screen, or they can delete previous shots. It features dual handle grips ergonomically designed for little hands, and two-eye viewing that makes looking through the viewfinder a breeze. Features 640 x 480 resolution for quality 4 x 6 prints, 8 MB built-in memory for up to 50 pictures, SD card slot for increased storage capacity, easy navigation menu, USB cord for computer connection, camera software CD, built-in flash and a wrist strap. Requires 4 "AA" batteries (not included). Measures 5.5" x 3" x 4.5".

Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls Costumer Reviews

Great camera for kids, By Geek Daddy
In a world of 10 megapixel cameras, expectations for toys need to be set properly. This is a 1/3 megapixel camera. It does a great job at what it was designed to do - take reasonably good pictures for a camera that can take a beating.
The LCD is grainy and doesn't reflect the image actually captured. On a PC, the image is better. Other kids cameras do a horrible job indoors. With the flash on this one, the indoor pictures are acceptable.
I would recommend this for all kids not responsible enough with a real digital camera, and old enough to not fire the flash at close proximity to eyes.

Perfect Camera for Future Little Photographers, By Deanna L. Olds
My 4 year old loves her camera. It is perfect for her little hands and the 2 eyeviews make it very easy for her. Being digital she can take any picture she wants and as many as she wants. The quality of picture is not that great but it doesn't seem to bother her. She can still tell exactly what is she took a picture of. Highly recommend.

By Kimberly E. Poutre "KimP" (Boston MA) -
My daughter loves to use my expensive nikon so we bought this for her birthday. Now all 4 of our kids want one. It isnt nikon quality pictures but who cares, they arent bad. They just love snapping photos and seeing their work in the panel. They have dropped it many times and it takes a licking. I may be buying 3 more for christmas. Two of my friends are buying it for their kids.

Digital Cameras for Kids: What to Look For

What are the best digital cameras for kids? And what are the features that you should look for in a good camera for kids? As we mentioned above, there are several key elements that many digital cameras have to offer for children: longevity, special editing capabilities and internal memory. Some of the top digital cameras for kids including the KidiZoom Plus, the Fisher-Price KidiZoom 80 Camera and Disney’s Kid Touth Digital Camera. We broke the attributes we look for in digital cameras for kids four separate criteria, which are listed below.

Features
Quality is still a top feature to look for in the best digital cameras for kid. In addition to quality and resolution of images we took into account a variety of features that many people search for in digital cameras for kids. The features include: zooming abilities, flash, playback capability, timer, camcorder mode and extras like games, photo editing software and web cam ability.

Design
The heaviest criterion in this area is memory capacity; the size of the internal memory and the possibility of external memory. Vacations, trips and holidays will all warrant your child needing a good amount of memory space, but whether you are on a vacation or going about your day-to-day activities you probably don’t want to upload pictures to the computer once a day so your child can take more. Other design specs that influence the score in this area include: battery type, display screen size, weight, recommended age, and durability.

Ease of Use
One of the most important aspects of digital cameras for kid is selecting one that they can use and appreciate. You don’t want to get a 10-year-old a product made for 3-year-olds and vice versa. We have taken a look at the recommended age and ranked each according to its user-friendliness. We feel it is important for the child to be able to use it on their own with little to no adult interference.

Help & Support
Since electronics can have their problems every now and then we feel it is important to select a product that is backed up by its maker. We found the ways to contact companies regarding the cameras we were testing and called them to ask for help, not letting them know we were researching and reviewing their product. We found many companies that provide great customer support teams who are knowledgeable and willing to help and then we found the opposite, companies who never answered the phone or couldn’t answer our questions. We ranked them accordingly.

As you search for the best digital cameras for kids in your life we created a side-by-side comparison to help you easily recognize the right product for you. For additional information on digital cameras check out articles relating to digital cameras for kid.

The best digital camera for kids

If your budding photographer at, say, 7 or 8 years, I recommend what I did, and use it as a convenient excuse by updating your old snapshooter. But for pre-school children who can not be trusted not to leave their cameras on a regular basis, there are finally some decent options. I have three cameras suitable for children 3 years and older. I limited my choice of cameras, LCD viewfinders for digital cameras, that children who are still deprived seemed useless to me included. Each has its appeal, but I went with a clear favorite as well.

Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera

Pros: Very durable; waterproof; two-eye viewfinder
Cons: Hard-to-press shutter button; low-quality LCD; doesn't accept memory cards; low resolution; no strap Specs: 1.3 (interpolated) megapixels; 1.5-inch LCD; built-in flash; 64MB internal memory; requires 4 AAA batteries

The best digital camera for kids (or, how to keep grubby hands off your camera) this was the chunkiest feeling of the three cameras, but probably the most durable too. Though the outside packaging was quite different, the camera features and functions were virtually identical to the Crayola camera, down to the five buttons and the weak (though larger) LCD. As with the Crayola camera, the Fisher Price doesn't include any extra on-camera functions save for switching from high to low resolution (or should I say low to lower resolution). But unlike Crayola, Fisher Price doesn't include any fun software either--though truth be told, my kid testers weren't all that interested in the software that came with the Crayola camera. Image quality was barely adequate to the grown-up eye--not surprising given the interpolated 1.3 megapixel (0.3 megapixel actual) resolution--but again, I found the kids to be much gentler critics of image quality, so weigh that with the lower price of this camera.

Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera

Pros: High-resolution 1.8-inch LCD; video capability; on-camera games; on-camera photo effects; playback on TV; two-eye viewfinder
Cons: Battery replacement requires opening two compartments; more-complicated buttons and interface Specs: 2.0 megapixels; 1.8-inch LCD; built-in flash; 16MB internal memory;

The Vtech is also the only camera of the three to include a video shooting mode. Of the three cameras, the Vtech had the best LCD screen by far, which made it far more usable as a real camera. As with the Fisher Price camera, the two-eye viewfinder was great for helping kids frame shots.

Crayola 2.1 MP Digital Camera

Pros: Lightweight and compact; neck strap
Cons: Small, low-quality LCD; no internal memory; single-eye viewfinder Specs: 2.1 megapixels; 1.3-inch LCD; built-in flash; accepts SD cards up to 2GB; requires 3 AAA batteries

The best digital camera for kids (or, how to keep grubby hands off your camera) I really liked the form factor of this little camera--it was the smallest and lightest of the three, but also seemed the least durable, though certainly sturdier than a normal digital camera.

Vtech Kidizoom Camera - Pink Pros and Cons

Vtech Kidizoom Camera - Pink
Best Digital Camera For Kids - This is a very fun camera. I think it is perfect for my 3.5 year old.  It is easy for her to use as the sidegrips are large, the screen is a good size, there are two viewfinders and it is lightweight. The Vtech Kidizoom Camera – Pink is a tool that allows her to explore her world, and it gets her excited about taking pictures. The grips are perfect so that she can hold on to it very easily. All the kids enjoy taking pictures and videos. They are happy just looking at the screen on the camera, so we have not needed to upload anything to the computer. The Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera is the perfect gift for a "budding" young photographer. Vtech Kidizoom Camera - Pink Pros and Cons

Pros:
Vtech Kidizoom Camera - Pink Pros and Cons
  • The handles are very sturdy and kid friendly, it is safe and secure to hold no matter how sticky or slippery little hands can get
  • The view finder is meant to be help up to both eyes. Kids have a hard time with the close one eye and focus, snap. This allows them to naturally just put their face to the view finders and snap away
  • It is a creative outlet and let’s kids focus on cool things like nature. pull them away from the TV and let them hang out in the garden while you sip cocktails with a friend :) there are boundless flowers and bugs dying to pose for this cute little camera
  • Some of the pictures were very clear and that’s surprising seeing how shaky and how much children can’t keep still
  • It is wonderful to load them up and show your kid their own photo album. It is like watching the world from your kid’s eyes and it’s hilarious and fun and great for them to tell you stories of why they took pictures and what they are about
  • It feels durable
  • The video feature is an amazing addition
  • Good price and great present

Cons:
  • The screen where you view the pictures and you play games is pretty small. Lucky kids have better eyes than adults!
  • Does not take great pictures in unlit rooms... must be with bright lights or outside

Conclusion
With all Pros and cons, the Vtech Kidizoom Camera - Pink is a well built little camera. It's an excellent choice for any child who is interested in taking their own pictures.

Vtech Kidizoom Camera Review

Vtech Kidizoom Camera Review

Best Digital Camera For Kids - The Vtech Kidizoom Camera is sized really well for little hands, they can grip on the rubber handles on either side. It's made with tough plastic with a rubbery coating over the handles. The pictures and videos are a decent quality when downloaded onto our computer, the sound quality of the videos is very good, and she likes the three games a lot. The camera is also very sturdy. He has dropped the camera numerous times and it has even fallen down a set of stairs, and the camera still takes great pictures. Battery life seems pretty good and quality of photos is not bad. The Childs enjoys flipping through the photos she took of everything. I highly recommend this!!

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink Review

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink

Best Digital Camera For Kids - This is a perfect camera for a preschooler. It's very strong, it's been dropped a few times already and it still works. The Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink is easy for the child to use and teaches them how to focus on images. One of the features that I loved is that it has two eye lenses to look thru instead of just one, so it was easy for her to use. The only thing is it does not come with a USB cord so you can transfer pics from the camera to the computer. But it really does not matter since she takes pics and can see it on the digital screen. If you are considering buying this for your child/grandchild. Please do not hesitate, it is well worth it.

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera - Pink Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Very easy controls. My 4 year old had no problem grasping the concept of the zoom feature, how to move back and forth through the picture preview (which they love), how to use the view finder, and how to turn it off and on.
  • Auto-off for when they don't turn it off themselves.
  • The way the camera is designed to be held lessens the likelihood of photographed fingers.
  • Easy-open packaging.
  • Easy-open, yet secure, battery compartment. Tough. My son's camera has already been dropped down our wood stairs, and stepped on. My daughter's was left out in a heavy, day-long rain. We dried it off, inside and out. The stored pictures remained view-able, and it still takes new pictures.
  • Uses a standard USB cord to transfer photos to a computer. (Not included.)
  • A free, associated website is available to add borders, and enhancements to pictures. Easy enough for the kids to do a lot of the work themselves.

Cons:
  • Picture quality, particularly in lower light levels, is poor. An auto-flash feature would be nice.
  • The camera must be held very still to avoid blurry pictures. Hard for little ones to do. However, my kids couldn't care less. Taking the pictures is all the fun. I have been able to easily clean the pictures up a bit in Picassa.

Conclusion
Over all with some Pros and Cons, This is a great introduction to cameras and picture taking for small children!

Kid-Tough Digital Camera Blue from Fisher Price

Kid-Tough Digital Camera Blue from Fisher Price

Best Digital Camera For Kids - Like most kids, my nephew wants to get into whatever the adults are doing and thinks their toys are better. The view screen is small on the back, but they don't care, they just love taking their OWN pictures and it's VERY durable and VERY easy for them to use. The Kid-Tough Digital Camera Blue is ideal for a child's first experience with taking photos. The camera picture quality is obviously not 18 mega pixels, but for three year olds it's perfect. It also has a memory card so all your Childs masterpieces can be transferred to the computer or another device. The camera turns itself off if it is not used for a while and this really helps save batteries.  I would definitely recommend it for children.

3 Things to Consider in Choosing a Digital Camera for Kids

Best Digital Camera For Kids - I love photography, so my son has acquired that love! Unfortunately, that meant he was always trying to "use" my camera and it took far more abuse than I preferred. Well, to begin with, this type of camera is more robust than an adult model and can withstand all the knocks, bumps and drops that the average pre-school child is inevitably going to subject it to. The great thing about digital cameras is that you can easily download the pictures to your computer for viewing (or deleting) without paying for prints. If you think about a list of recommended features for a good camera for children, ease-of-use would probably be at the top of the list. Show your child the basics of how to operate the camera. Tell them not to point her camera into the sun. You may need to teach your child to focus the camera.

3 Things to Consider in Choosing a Digital Camera for Kids

Picture quality is not usually that high with a camera for this age group, 2.0 mega pixels are pretty standard - but don't reject a model on this basis. Remember that you are not choosing a camera for yourself, this is for a little child and whatever camera you put into their hands, you are never going to get high quality images when the photographer cannot stay still for thirty seconds at a time!

They have a wide range of good digital cameras for kids. The cameras for boys are blue in color while those for girls are in pink. The cameras have a dual viewfinder so that children can frame their shots keeping both eyes open. The Fisher Price cameras also come with an inbuilt flash. The pictures are stored in 64 MB internal memory and can be viewed on a 1.5 inch color LCD display on the camera.

Large, easy to use buttons and controls are an absolute 'must', whatever model you choose. Children are so easily distracted and batteries can quickly become depleted if the child leaves the camera on and goes off to do something else. Many models have an automatic switch-off feature on a timer which switches off the camera, saving the batteries if no functions are used within a certain length of time. However taking pictures is made much easier when the camera has a large, LCD display screen so the child can check the picture they are taking, just by looking at the screen. A rotating lens which enables the child to take pictures of himself or include himself in a picture with friends or family is a great feature to have as well. It seems to be a great source of fascination, particularly with younger children.

Let your kids have fun with their digital camera. Encourage them to photograph whatever subjects appeal to them. What should you expect to pay for a camera with all these great features? You can often get top spec. models at budget model prices if you look for special offers and deals in store and online.
